Recipe of the week: New Year Nourish Bowl.

It’s that time of year where the ‘D’ word is pasted all over the health shops, the gym and the internet. Yes, DETOX. It’s something that most people intend on doing post Christmas, it may be in the form of a ‘Dry January’, buying a bunch of detox teas (which by the way, are total bull) or by starting that diet that you’ve been meaning to start since the summer holidays. Detox is word that, in my opinion is thrown around too often and one that plenty companies have taken full advantage of to market their products. After the festive period and weeks of indulging in nothing but chocolate, prosecco and cheese what our bodies really need is nourishment. You know that week in between Christmas and New Year – the one where nobody knows what day it is and you feel like you’re in limbo, you’ve got heaps of leftovers to get through and you’re feeling really sluggish but you eat them anyway? Yeah that week, I was literally craving vegetables because I hadn’t had them in days do I devised my Post-Boxing Day Nourish Bowl which you may have seen over on my Instagram.

My idea of a Nourish Bowl is creating a meal that has all the essential nutrients to nourish your body; carbohydrates, fats, protein and fibre. All the ingredients are accessible and its super easy to make! There are heaps of recipes over on Pinterest if you want to mix up the ingredients but here are the ones I used.

Ingredients:

  • Sweet potato (roasted in avocado oil)
  • White quinoa
  • Puy lentils
  • Kale
  • Brocoli
  • Avocado
  • Apple (I used Pink Lady)
  • Mango
  • Hummus
